In celebration of Black History Month, this Filmable Panel aims to explore and discuss the multifaceted experiences of Black filmmakers in Canada, emphasizing the crucial roles of community support, funding, and intersectionality in shaping authentic narratives.
Participants will engage in a dialogue about overcoming barriers to funding and distribution for Black-led projects, leveraging community resources to amplify Black voices, and understanding the importance of representing diverse experiences in storytelling.
The discussion will also touch on the potential impacts of emerging technologies, including AI, streaming platforms, and fast channels, on the representation of Black-led stories.
