Power Tie-Ins Funding Program
Power Tie-Ins Program
The Power Tie-ins Program is a granting program delivered by Creative BC for Reel Green™’s Clean Energy Committee. The Committee is investing up to $2,500 in electric grid tie-in projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in high-volume filming areas. The tie-in projects will enable film crews to tie-in to electric power grids, thereby reducing the use of diesel-fueled generators on film sets.
For every single day that a production replaces a diesel fueled generator with a power tie-in to clean electric energy, production will save approximately 350 litres of diesel fuel and reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions by 938.35 kg CO2e/Day.

Sustainable Production Training
Reel Green™’s Sustainable Production Training offers free online training for the motion picture industry. Learn how motion picture production contributes to climate change and how to adopt best practices to reduce the environmental impact of production. This course offers a unique, engaging and solutions-based training session offering attendees the information and inspiration to live and work in a more sustainable way.
Upon successful completion of the course, attendees will:
– understand how to act to reduce their impact within the three stages of production
– recognize the impact that production has on the environment
– have knowledge of the tools and techniques to lessen this impact and how to collect and report data
– receive the completion credit and ActSafe Certificate (for B.C. Residents only)
Taking the Sustainable Production Training course is free and recommended to everyone in the motion picture industry. In this 2-hour training, crew will learn how to adopt and implement more environmentally sustainable practices in the three stages of production.
Carbon Calculator Workshops
Derived from one of the motion picture industry’s leading carbon calculators, albert, Reel Green™ has adapted a carbon calculator for British Columbia, for free, for productions in B.C. to use.
Calculating the carbon footprint of your production is an important step in understanding the impact of film production. Having consistent data and metrics from the industry can help organizations like Reel Green understand priority areas for sustainable practices as well as help productions understand and measure their carbon impact.
Additionally, with more available data points we can also derive economic benefits of going green on production!
