Power Tie-Ins Funding Program
Power Tie-Ins Program
The Power Tie-ins Program is a granting program delivered by Creative BC for Reel Green™’s Clean Energy Committee. The Committee is investing up to $2,500 in electric grid tie-in projects to reduce greenhouse gas emissions in high-volume filming areas. The tie-in projects will enable film crews to tie-in to electric power grids, thereby reducing the use of diesel-fueled generators on film sets.
For every single day that a production replaces a diesel fueled generator with a power tie-in to clean electric energy, production will save approximately 350 litres of diesel fuel and reduce Greenhouse Gas Emissions by 938.35 kg CO2e/Day.

Sustainable Production Training
The Reel Green™ Sustainable Production Course is a unique, engaging and solutions-based training session offering attendees the information and inspiration to live and work in a more sustainable way. Across the 2-hour online course, delegates can be expect to be challenged with engaging presentations, case studies and informative discussion regarding solutions and best practices.
Upon successful completion of the course, attendees will:
- have a sound understanding of the science of climate change
- understand how to act to reduce their impact
- recognize the impact that production has on the environment
- have knowledge of the tools and techniques to lessen this impact
Taking the Sustainable Production course is free and recommended to everyone in the motion picture industry. We will begin teaching courses in British Columbia and will announce dates via industry organizations and the Reel Green platform.
Carbon Calculator Workshops
Calculating the carbon footprint of your production is an important step in understanding the impact of film production. Having consistent data and metrics from the industry can help organizations like Reel Green™ understand priority areas for sustainable practices as well as help productions understand and measure their carbon impact. Additionally, with more available data points we can also derive economic benefits of going green on production!
