Background:
Reel Green, an industry program housed at Creative BC, was formalized in 2006 to address environmental impacts of the motion picture industry and help productions reduce their overall environmental footprint and improve their sustainable production efforts in British Columbia.
Reel Green Mission: To enable the evolution and implementation of sustainable practices in the motion picture industry towards the betterment of the world.
Reel Green will be raising funds from the British Columbia motion picture industry during the month of April 2020 to fund an identified environmental legacy project. Reel Green, an industry collaboration housed at Creative BC is seeking to partner with a Canadian organization that can execute a BC-based legacy project to sequester carbon, provide and/or enhance ecosystem services, and benefit the local community.
Reel Green is now accepting proposals to choose an organization(s) with whom to partner, and project(s) to fund. Our legacy project fundraising goal is $100,000.
Project goals:

Sequester carbon and provide other ecosystem services to improve the community

Be a relatable and understandable project to the general public and take place in BC.

Have measurable environmental and social outcomes and benefits, such as carbon sequestration and community access to nature
-
Ideally the project would be scalable to allow for adaptation in the event that funds either exceed or fall short of fundraising goals.

Project must be executed by the organization selected to receive funding or it’s designated partner(s) clearly described in the project proposal

Project must commence upon fundraising completion, April 30, 2020, and have a clear completion date

Enhance awareness of the project via social media, citing the BC film industry and #ReelGreenLegacy

Photos of the project progress to be submitted to Creative BC/Reel Green
