Ride the Cyclone
Ride the Cyclone is a wildly original musical—part comedy, part tragedy, and wholly unexpected. This show, originally developed and created with Victoria, B.C.'s Atomic Vaudeville toured across Canada twice to Intrepid Theatre, The SummerWorks Theatre Festival, The Belfry Theatre, The Arts Club Theatre Company (PuSH International Theatre Festival), The Yukon Arts Centre, The Citadel Theatre, The Manitoba Theatre Centre, Persephone Theatre, Theatre Passe Muraille, transferred to Chicago Shakespeare Theater, MCC Theater (Off-Broadway), The 5th Avenue/ACT Theaters, and finally to The Alliance Theater!
Ride the Cyclone was created in 2008 by Jacob Richmond and Brooke Maxwell, and produced by Atomic Vaudeville. It has gone on to sell out houses and receive critical acclaim across Canada. Creative BC supported the recording of an album from theatrical musical Ride the Cyclone. The aim has been to cover the 22+ songs and include some bonus material.
The New York Times reviewed Ride the Cyclone as “…an unceasingly delightful new musical…book, music and lyrics by Jacob Richmond and Brooke Maxwell (straight A’s across the board)."
