Sophia Danai
Sophia Danai likes to consider herself up and doing, rather than up and coming. Hailing from Vancouver, BC, she brings a soulful voice and compelling lyrics that have a unique sound and strong presence in this New Music Era. OkayPlayer called her a mix of Nina Simone, Billie Holiday and Portishead, adding that she "is a dynamic singer with an obvious foundation in soul."
Having a passion for theatre and acting in her earlier years, she devoted much of her energy to this endeavour and it carries over into her music as her love of storytelling is always evident, each song capturing a unique and poignant moment.
Her latest single "Come Thru" released April 13th, 2018 is the first off her upcoming EP, Real Lies recorded with Ryan Worsley in Port Coquitlam. The EP is to be released June 29th.
Creative BC is proud to support Sophia Danai as part of both the Sound Recording Program and the Careers of BC Artists program.
