BC’s Restart Announced May 25
BC’s Restart Announced May 25
Please note that the Province of British Columbia has announced a careful, four-step plan focused on protecting people and safely getting life back to normal.
Please read the plan here:
The plan will move forward from one step to the next based on declining COVID-19 case counts, increasing vaccination rate in people 18+, declining COVID-19 hospitalizations, including critical care, AND declining COVID-19 mortality rate.
- Step 1: Starting May 25
- Step 2: Earliest start date June 15
- Step 3: Earliest start date July 1
- Step 4: Earliest start date September 7
Importantly for the creative industries, the plan includes guidance for organized events such as live performances and concerts. The Province’s target date for Step 2 is June 15, when organized events of 50 people indoors will be allowed. There is optimism that by Fall, significant capacity will be added to mass gatherings with COVID-19 Safety Plan in place, including fairs and festivals operating with a COVID-19 Safety Plan in place.
Over the coming months Creative BC will be working together with government, industry associations and with the sector more broadly on what exactly that will look like in the fall and how to support events going forward.
The Province will be staying flexible, monitoring data and learning from this restart with the plan as a roadmap of where B.C. wants to get to this fall.
