Myc Sharratt

Hide in the Light the latest album from award-winning singer-songwriter Myc Sharratt, captures a feeling fit for a joyful journey home at summer’s end. Recorded in North Vancouver, the album reunites Sharratt with Juno-winning producer Ryan Stewart. Hide in the Light is a showcase of the intimate, more subtle side of Sharratt’s vocal rarely revealed in his first four independent albums. Beautifully-woven ethereal sonic landscapes with lush electric guitars over dreamy beds of synthesizers are the backdrop for lyrical content touching on love, loss and regret. A hard-working man of the road, Sharratt has crafted his live show through years of touring throughout Canada, the US and Ireland.

Born and raised on Vancouver Island, Sharratt grew up listening to his parents’ record collection – heavy on guitar greats such as Eric Clapton and Jimi Hendrix. By the time Sharratt picked up the guitar at age 15, he had stockpiled a versatile mix of influences including singer-songwriters such as Dave Matthews and John Mayer. While enrolled in university, a chance encounter with members of the acoustic rock band Flannel Jimmy, led Sharratt to set aside his scholastic endeavours and record his first two albums Incomplete and Blueprint, with Flannel Jimmy’s drummer Ryan Stewart at the helm. The latter album earned 5 Vancouver Island Music Award nominations, winning one for Male Vocalist of the Year.

Sharratt has earned a reputation as a memorable and soulful live act. His 2010 live album Six Feet Above drew a VIMA Songwriter of the Year nomination and a Top 20 nod for 104.3 FM The Shore’s Sounds of Summer contest.

2014 saw Sharratt record across the globe. Cellar Door began in North Vancouver with the now-Juno award winner, Ryan Stewart. During a tour across the pond, recording continued in Ireland with Lisa Hannigan Band alum Gavin Glass. The album was completed on Vancouver Island with Sharratt producing a majority of the album with Todd Dunsmore of Risque Disque Records. Cellar Door earned Sharratt a 7th VIMA nomination, this time for Album of the Year in 2016.
