Maureen Washington

Oct 26, 2021

She’s a soulful, sultry force who stands out in the most intimate of jazz clubs and the most lively of blues festivals. Her powerful voice and persona enrapture audiences and have placed her alongside greats like folk legend Valdy, saxophone icon Joe Lovano, and Canadian virtuoso Bruce Cockburn on stages from Prince George to Pender Island and everywhere in between. With these credits to her name, Victoria-based vocalist Maureen Washington just released her ninth album, Harvest Moon.

Recorded in Victoria’s Baker Studios with producer Joby Baker (Cowboy Junkies, Alex Cuba), Harvest Moon is a collection of original work and covers that Maureen calls “fan favorite songs. Songs that we would perform and people would want to take home.” Classics like Harvest Moon (Neil Young), Take 5 (Dave Brubeck) and (You Make Me Feel Like) A Natural Woman (Carole King), are a few of the album’s songs that complement Maureen’s own Wait a Little Longer, a heartfelt collaboration with Daniel Cook, dedicated to her late husband.

Creative BC is proud to support Maureen and Harvest Moon as part of the BC Music Fund’s Sound Recording Pilot Program.
