Reel Green™ Screening Series: The Soul of The Fraser

Reel Green™ presented the first ever film screening for the new initiative Reel Green™ Screening Series, where we feature local BC or Canadian filmmakers that are bringing climate to the screens! Focused on bringing community and industry together to celebrate, learn and connect with filmmakers and climate stories, this initiative aims to bring diverse perspectives and storytellers together, whether it is through the form of narrative or factual content.
The Soul of the Fraser (2022) was the featured inaugural documentary that took over the Science Theatre at Science World. With almost 200 people showing up, attendees were taken through the story on the threats made on the Fraser Estuary and how scientists, activists and community are coming together to prevent more damage. The successful screening concluded with an informative Q&A panel with many audience members asking insightful questions.
This event was presented in partnership with: Reel Green™, Birds Canada, Science World, BCIT – Rivers Institute, NERV Productions, and Willow Grove, who made this event possible.
Special thank you to the following people who took part in the Q&A and film:

About the Film:
The Soul of The Fraser (2022)
In beautiful British Columbia, Canada, follow an ensemble cast ranging from a former government fish habitat biologist turned activist to a boat captain with an Indigenous family history long forgotten, as they search for a way to save what’s left of the Fraser River Estuary. This documentary feature uses the estuary as a case study, proving a lack of environmental stewardship as a result of Indigenous suppression and bureaucratic mis-management.
