Canadian Academy introduces Sustainable Production Award for 2024 Canadian Screen Awards
On April 11th 2023, the Academy of Canadian Cinema & Television and CBC announced the introduction of the Sustainable Production Award, which is designed to recognize a production that has shown excellence in sustainable production and has had a measurable reduction in greenhouse gas emissions and / or innovations in circularity, and that has also contributed positively to the Canadian media landscape and local communities.
“We are proud to be the presenting partner of the Sustainable Production Award, as we know the celebration of productions that have reduced their carbon impact is a game-changing next step for the industry,” said Lisa Clarkson, Executive Director, Business & Rights and Production Sustainability, CBC. “Media has a powerful role to play in helping society understand our changing planet, and that means we need to inject environmental thinking into everything we do — including what content we make and how we make it.”
The criteria for the Sustainable Production Award will be released Summer 2023, along with the rules and regulations for the 2024 Canadian Screen Awards. More information can be found at academy.ca.
