Record Attendance at the Reel Green™ Clean Energy Battery Workshop Ignites Industry Excitement for 2025

Held at Bridge Studios this December, the workshop welcomed 67 participants eager to explore the latest green technologies. Attendees were treated to live demonstrations from operators showcasing cutting-edge electric batteries in action. Experts Rich Holden and Mitch Mitchell from MBS Equipment Company Canada guided participants through hands-on sessions, illustrating how these batteries can be effectively used on location, for lighting, and to power their flagship equipment.
A dynamic panel discussion moderated by Mary Jo Beirnes, Director of Studios at MBS Equipment Company Canada, offered valuable perspectives on the shift to clean energy. Panelists included Location Managers Myles Lennig and Matt Hall, as well as IATSE Local 891 members Rigging Gaffer Jeff Harvey and Generator Operator Hugh Meikle, who highlighted the advantages of electric batteries over traditional diesel generators.
Adding an academic lens, Shams Islam, a master’s student and PhD candidate in Energy Management at the New York Institute of Technology, presented his groundbreaking research on decarbonizing motion picture production. His insights focused on reducing emissions in circuses and transport, sparking thoughtful discussions about the future of sustainable practices in film production.
