Record in BC brings 17 established artists to British Columbia with $300K in grant funding

Vancouver, B.C. (June 16, 2025) – Today, Creative BC announces 17 Amplify BC grants through the Record in BC program (the Program), totalling $293,923.43 distributed to out-of-province and international recipients to create music in British Columbia.
The Program attracts established artists to B.C. to record, increase music tourism, and create jobs for local recording professionals. Record in BC offers grants of $10,000-$30,000, covering up to 50% of B.C.-based expenses, including travel to and within the province. The Program aims to grow and sustain B.C.’s recording industry by boosting local earning potential, attracting national and international artists and businesses.
Supported artists must demonstrate financial viability, create B.C. jobs, support local music companies, and help raise the profile of B.C. studios and recording professionals. Eligible projects include, but are not limited to, singles, EPs, and LPs in the form of original music, or interpretations of existing music. The Program does not support songwriting, commissions, or the creation of new works prior to recording. All recordings supported through this program must be intended for commercial release.
The 2024/25 Record in BC program is part of the Province of British Columbia’s investment into B.C.’s music and sound recording industry via Amplify BC. These provincial funds are part of B.C.’s $42M historical investment which includes supporting the music industry’s infrastructure and assisting the recovery and growth of B.C.’s music industry through 2027.
Applications were scored according to the priorities of the program, including economic impact, track record of artist, budget, label and team, investment in B.C. talent, innovation, and support for equity-deserving groups who experience systemic barriers to industry participation.

“It is a dream come true and so exciting to be making my next album in BC, Canada. Not only will I get to use incredible facilities and collaborate with talented locals, I get to travel from Australia to (literally) create in BC. Without the support of the Record in BC program, this would never have happened, and I am hugely grateful for the opportunity. “
Cory Weeds, Cellar Music, Record Label Recipient
