Taking place October 14–15, 2025, the Reelworld Summit, hosted at the Courtyard Marriott Toronto Downtown, will bring together creators, executives, and changemakers for two days of vital conversations, workshops, Face2Face pitch sessions, and networking opportunities. With a firm focus on equity and access, the summit continues to shine a spotlight on the experiences of Indigenous, Black, Asian, South Asian and other racialized professionals in the Canadian screen industry.

As part of the festival’s commitment to honouring trailblazing voices in the industry, Reelworld is proud to present the 2025 Reelworld Award of Excellence to Clark Johnson and the 2025 Reelworld Visionary Award to Prem Gill.

The Reelworld Visionary Award recognizes individuals whose lifetime of work behind the scenes has shaped the Canadian media industry. Through advocacy, entrepreneurship, and leadership, they have contributed to advancing the industry and making it a more inclusive and equitable place for all. Past recipients include Anita Lee, Shirley Cheechoo, Raja Khanna, and Nick Davis.

This year’s recipient, Prem Gill, is the CEO of Creative BC and a national leader in cultural development. With over two decades of experience in the media and entertainment sectors, she has championed initiatives that empower emerging talent and prioritize equity across the creative industries. From her early work at TELUS, where she launched programs like STORYHIVE and Optik Local, to her current leadership in British Columbia’s motion picture, music, digital media, and publishing sectors, Prem’s contributions have had a lasting impact on Canada’s creative landscape.
