British Columbia at World Congress of Science and Factual Producers 2025

From December 8 to 11, 2025, delegates from British Columbia will attend the World Congress of Science & Factual Producers (WCSFP) in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, supported by Creative BC’s Passports to Markets program.

The WCSFP is the leading international gathering for the factual media community—bringing together producers, broadcasters, streamers, scientists, digital creators, commissioners, and experts in science, history, natural history and other content-rich storytelling genres.

Each year, nearly 600 delegates from over 30 countries meet to exchange insight on global editorial, market, format, production, funding, and distribution trends. For example, the 2025 edition will be the first ever held in South America, signalling the Congress’ expanding scope into emerging markets and fresh digital content ecosystems.

Through the Passports to Markets program, Creative BC provides targeted travel support that enables B.C.-based creative media professionals to access these high-value opportunities. This investment helps local producers and companies expand their international networks, secure co-production and financing partnerships, and strengthen B.C.’s visibility and competitiveness in the global screen industry.
