From May 12-20, 2026, British Columbia delegates will attend the Marché du Film at Cannes Film Festival in Cannes, France.

The Cannes Film Market (Marché du Film) is a premier international marketplace and networking hub, held alongside the renowned Cannes Film Festival, attracting the world’s leading filmmakers, producers, distributors, sales agents, investors, and media companies. Returning in 2026 for its 79th edition, it brings together participants from over 140 countries each year, offering unparalleled opportunities for deal-making, financing, distribution, and collaboration across the global film industry. With a dynamic program of screenings, conferences, and industry events, it serves as a central meeting point for key decision makers shaping the future of international cinema

Over 55 people from B.C., will attend Marché du Film 2026including 9 delegates supported by the Passports to Markets program, celebrating cinematic excellence, supporting the film industry, and honouring the year’s best films. Through the Passports to Markets program, Creative BC provides targeted travel support that enables B.C.-based creative media professionals to access these high-value opportunities. This investment helps local producers and companies expand their international networks, secure co-production and financing partnerships, and strengthen B.C.’s visibility and competitiveness in the global screen industry. As part of Telefilm iMPACT Lab, Olivia Golosky (Experimental Forest Films) will participate as a Lab Producer. iMPACT Lab provides a unique opportunity for experienced and emerging professionals to exchange ideas, reflect on the industry’s current landscape, and engage in constructive debate to bring impactful projects to life, strengthen co-productions, and champion a diverse film industry.

Also powered by Telefilm CanadaCanada: Not Short on Talent 2026 will screen the B.C. short BARE directed by Lucy McNulty and Miranda MacDougall at the festival, offering a fresh and captivating story from rising Canadian filmmakers.

Writer and director Eloane Venkatapen was selected as one of the five international screenwriters invited to pitch at Cannes Marché du Film during the Pitch Sans Frontières Forum.

From the Directors Guild of Canada Cannes Delegation, B.C.-based Caitlyn Sponheimer and Darcy Hennessey will be in attendance.

On May 15, at the Canada Pavilion, there will be a panel titled “Create With Canada,” featuring Creative BC’s CEO, Prem Gill, as a panelist and moderated by Telefilm.
