Vancouver, B.C. (September 21, 2026) – Today, Creative BC announces 26 Amplify BC grants through the Business Foundations program (the Program), totalling $251,939 distributed to music and sound recording businesses across British Columbia.
The Program supports the growth, competitiveness, and long-term sustainability of B.C.’s music and sound recording industry, while advancing a more diverse and inclusive music ecosystem through investment in businesses owned by people from systemically excluded groups. Through grants of up to $10,000, the Program helps recipients strengthen and expand their operations through activities such as staffing, production costs, equipment purchases, content creation, marketing and advertising initiatives, training, policy development, business planning, and more.
The Program is funded through the Province of British Columbia’s investment through Amplify BC, and is part of the province’s historic $42 million investment in the creative sector, supporting music companies, festivals, venues, live music presenters, and industry infrastructure throughout the province until 2027.
Since its launch, the Program has helped businesses build operational capacity, increase sustainability, and create opportunities for growth within B.C.’s music ecosystem. By investing in the foundations of these companies, the Program supports the development of a stronger industry infrastructure that benefits artists, entrepreneurs, and creative workers across the province.

Quotes:
Honourable Anne Kang, Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport
“B.C.’s music industry thrives when people from all backgrounds have the opportunity to succeed. Through these grants, we are supporting equity-deserving artists and business owners to strengthen their businesses, pursue new projects, and build long-term success. Together, we are supporting a music industry that is more inclusive, diverse and reflective of our communities that make B.C. such a vibrant place.”
Robert Wong, Vice President, Creative BC
“Congratulations to the 26 recipients of this year’s Business Foundations program! The continued growth of B.C.’s music industry relies on strong businesses with the capacity to support artists, create jobs, and drive innovation. By supporting businesses owned and led by individuals from historically underrepresented communities, this program helps ensure the full diversity of B.C.’s music entrepreneurs has the opportunity to contribute, be heard, and help shape the future of the industry. Together, they strengthen the province’s music ecosystem infrastructure and support an industry that contributes $484 million in economic activity, while showcasing B.C. creativity and talent on local, national, and international stages.”
Margins of Sound Society, Nanaimo, Program Recipient
“Creative BC’s support allows us to invest in the relationships, skills, and infrastructure needed to grow a sustainable music organization and a recurring public music festival in Nanaimo. By creating new opportunities for B.C. artists to learn, collaborate, and connect professionally, we’re helping strengthen the province’s music industry from the regional level up. This investment allows Margins of Sound Society to bring artists, mentors, and audiences together in new ways, helping cultivate the skills, relationships, and creative confidence that will support the next generation of B.C. music.”
Palm Street Studios, Vancouver, Program Recipient
“With this support of this grant, Palm Street can build the kind of foundation our artists have earned. Equity-deserving artists make up nearly 90% of our community, and stronger production, better content, and more effective audience development mean we can offer them a higher standard of support. Creative BC’s investment reaches far beyond a single project. It shapes years of future shows and opportunities for local artists and creatives in Vancouver’s independent and underground music scene.”
