Honourable Anne Kang, Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport
“Magazines capture unique stories, inform and engage readers, and celebrate diverse voices. B.C. is home to some of the world’s best magazine publishers and creators, whose work reflects our communities and connects with audiences at home and abroad. That’s why it’s so important that we continue to support B.C. magazine publishers as they explore new markets, grow their customer base, and build sustainable, successful businesses across Canada and around the world.”
Prem Gill, CEO, Creative BC
“Creative BC is proud to support 14 B.C. magazine publishers in strengthening their marketing efforts and connecting with readers, partners, and buyers at key markets across Canada and abroad. Through this program, publishers were able to attend 21 markets, invest in targeted marketing and promotional activities, and promote their titles in spaces where meaningful business connections are made. By supporting both event participation and marketing initiatives, the program helps strengthen the sustainability, visibility, and long‑term growth of B.C.’s magazine publishing industry.”
Sylvia Skene, Executive Director, Magazine Association of BC
“Creative BC’s Magazine Publishers Market Fund empowers B.C. publishers to identify and adapt to industry shifts and broaden their readership through flexible, strategic funding. The magazine publishing industry depends on connection, visibility, and momentum, and this kind of investment strengthens the ecosystem beyond individual titles.”
Christine Añonuevo, Northword Magazine, Program Recipient
“Northword Magazine is the only independent and regional print magazine distributed from Haida Gwaii to Prince George on a quarterly basis and has a legacy dating back to the 1990s. The magazine was mothballed in 2020 and funding from Creative BC, Northword enthusiasts, and local business advertising helped bring the magazine back to life. The Magazine Publishers Market Fund supports our team to uplift award-winning writers, illustrators, and creatives to tell stories about the remarkable people and places in our backyards.”

These activities include: administration of the provincial government’s motion picture tax credit programs; delivery of program funding and export marketing support for the sector; and provincial film commission services. Combined, these activities serve to attract inward investment and market B.C. as a partner and destination of choice for domestic and international content creation.
