Apr 19, 2022

B.C.’s film industry returns for the second annual REEL Earth Day Challenge! The REEL Earth Day Challenge returns on April 11 to support conservation work in Metro Vancouver Regional Parks. The fundraising competition, jointly developed by Creative BC’s Reel Green™ initiative and Pacific Parklands Foundation, encourages crews, productions, suppliers, vendors and other motion picture industry stakeholders to raise funds in the days leading up to Earth Day on April 22.

The inaugural REEL Earth Day Challenge raised $165,000 in 2021 to support seven restoration and preservation projects. Aiming to surpass last year’s tremendous success, this year’s challenge will once again bring B.C.’s motion picture community together in the spirit of giving and environmental sustainability. Follow along and get involved on the 2022 REEL Earth Day Challenge website.

About the REEL Earth Day Challenge

The Reel Green™ initiative, is an industry-funded resource centre to help productions reduce their environmental impacts and improve their overall environmental footprint.

The Reel Green™ partners are looking ahead to the next decade and how we can empower productions to innovate and implement sustainable production practices, and inspire industry stakeholders to collectively support this effort. We are prioritizing education, engagement, communications, and resources as we develop a platform for the reduction of environmental impacts and stakeholder engagement at the local level to set an example for other jurisdictions globally.

In 2022, the REEL Earth Day Challenge is focused on projects and programs in Metro Vancouver Regional Parks that connect people with nature. With your support we can make all these amazing projects a reality.
