QUOTES
“In addition to featuring some of our most beautiful landscapes, Peter Pan & Wendy is another great example of how Canadian talent, skill and expertise, from across the country, is the best in the business. As a government, we will continue to work to support our creative industry, so that production in Canada can continue to grow and flourish.” – Hon. Pablo Rodriguez, Minister of Canadian Heritage
“Newfoundland and Labrador was honoured to welcome Disney to our Neverland, and we are delighted with the impact Peter Pan and Wendy has already had on our province. Our screen industry is thriving, as our province offers unique locations and an increasingly supportive and film friendly environment thanks to our government’s commitment to growing the industry. By featuring the province in Peter Pan & Wendy, Disney is not only displaying our breathtaking locations to the world but is also making a significant economic impact, creating benefits for our economy and our communities.” – The Honourable Andrew Furey, Premier of Newfoundland and Labrador
“Peter Pan and Wendy has demonstrated that our goal of increasing production activity in this province is most certainly achievable. We have been working hard to continue developing the film and television workforce, announcing a new film and television campus, and the All Spend Tax Credit in Budget 2022, which this project helped advance. Thanks to the tax credit and our more robust workforce, outside production companies that come to Newfoundland and Labrador will have an incentive to hire as many local crew as possible to maximize their credit. This will significantly increase the economic impact to the province.” – The Honourable Steve Crocker, Minister of Tourism, Culture, Arts and Recreation for Newfoundland and Labrador
“The motion picture industry is an important economic engine in British Columbia, and productions like Peter Pan & Wendy demonstrate the impact for workers and businesses throughout the province. We are fortunate to have strong partnerships with Disney and other studios, who can take advantage of the incredible talent and skills our local crews have to offer.” – The Honourable Lana Popham, Minister of Tourism, Arts, Culture and Sport for British Columbia
“Disney’s Peter Pan & Wendy showcases Quebec’s exceptional creative and innovative talents and demonstrates again why Quebec is one of the top 3 visual effects and animation hubs in the world. Major studios know that Quebec is where the magic comes to life, and we thank them for the trust they have in our studios and workers.” – Christine Maestracci, CEO & Acting as Privacy Officer, Quebec Film and Television Council (QFTC)
“As the Film Commission for the province, the Newfoundland and Labrador Film Development Corporation supports the provincial film industry’s ability to attract business through national and international marketing of the industry and the province as a location for production. Having Disney here to shoot Peter Pan & Wendy was an amazing experience and certainly showcases our unique and ‘waiting to be discovered’ locations. This is just the tip of the iceberg. Our potential is endless.” – Chris Bonnell, Executive Director, Newfoundland and Labrador Film Development Corporation (NFLDC)
“Peter Pan & Wendy and other large foreign productions play a critical role in driving British Columbia’s thriving motion picture economy. Our province’s majestic backdrop and highly-skilled crew base have earned us a reputation as a preferred destination for major studios like Disney, who recognize the unparalleled value of working with our talented workforce. Through successful partnerships with global partners, we continue to showcase the positive impact of our industry for workers and businesses in British Columbia.” – Prem Gill, CEO, Creative BC
“The data released today demonstrates the incredible impact just one production can have in Canada’s creative economy. Peter Pan & Wendy spent over $170 million from coast-to-coast, combining the skills of Canadian creatives, and showcasing Canadian locations and talent, to audiences around the world.” – Wendy Noss, President of the Motion Picture Association – Canada (MPA-Canada)
