British Columbia Shortlisted at the 2026 Global Production Awards

British Columbia has received three nominations on the 2026 Global Production Awards shortlist, competing against entries from across North America, Europe, Australia, and beyond. The Global Production Awards, presented by Media Business Insight (publishers of Screen International), recognize excellence in the international screen production industry. Winners will be announced on May 18, 2026, in Cannes, France.

 

Reel Green™ — Sustainability Initiative
Reel Green™, the BC Film Commission‘s industry-leading sustainable production program at Creative BC, is nominated in the Sustainability Initiative category alongside initiatives from Austria, Australia, the UK, New Zealand, and the Nordic countries.

 

Vancouver Film Studios —Studio of the Year
Vancouver Film Studios has been shortlisted for Studio of the Year, competing with facilities including Universal Studios Lot (US), Disney Studios (Australia), and several major UK studios.

 

Vancouver Island South — Emerging Location
Rounding out the province’s nominations, Vancouver Island South, British Columbia — represented by the Vancouver Island South Film & Media Commission — is shortlisted for Emerging Location, alongside contenders from Texas, Slovakia, and Spain. The nomination signals growing industry recognition of the region’s stunning landscapes, capable crew base, and expanding production infrastructure.

 

Together, the three nominations affirm British Columbia’s position as one of the most dynamic and forward-thinking screen production destinations in the world. With accolades spanning sustainability, studio excellence, and location discovery, B.C.’s motion picture industry is demonstrating that it punches well above its weight on the global stage.
