When Spider-Man battles arch-villain Electro during one of the pivotal scenes in The Amazing Spider-Man 2, the characters soar through the air and sparks literally fly.
It all happens in Times Square in New York, but in reality, much of the visual effects work to create that spectacular 10-minute battle scene was done in Vancouver, under the direction of Sony Pictures Imageworks and MPC Vancouver. About 150 Vancouver-based Imageworks employees and 120 MPC workers toiled on the project for months.
