Eighth and Eight | Creative Spaces Open Call for Established Artists: Performance for Young Audiences
Residencies are available at Eighth and Eight to create new or expand on existing work for young audiences (gr. K-7) for established performing artists in music, dance, or theatre. The residency must be completed by December 30, 2023.
In this residency, established performing artists will create new or expand on existing work for young audiences (grades K-7 or 8-12). Each artist will have multiple opportunities to showcase work in progress in a small-stage theatre, and receive feedback from invited young audiences and a cohort of industry professionals. Possibilities of public premiere of completed work (with performance fees) will be assessed following the residency.
Fees: Established artist(s) will receive $8,000 CAD for the residency and development of new work for young audiences. Â
Timeline of activities:
- Friday, June 9, 2023: Deadline to submit proposals
- Late August-December: Creative development of projections including showcasing of work-in-progress, workshops, outreach and mentorship with developed cohort of industry professionals.
