Career Development recipient Francis Henson from the Philippines recently released Boy Pacific – an exploration of intimacy, distance, loneliness, and belonging. His experience as a first-generation immigrant finds a musical home in Boy Pacific, recorded at 12 ST Sound.

The ocean is a powerful metaphor for the stormy process of navigating identity and mental health. It is an equally-apt metaphor for the push and pull of young love. Henson, based in Vancouver, is known for smooth guitar phrasing, unambiguous songwriting, and hooks that remain in your head long after you’ve heard them.

Henson released his first first-length album, Roots, in 2017 and has released an EP each year since. The first half of 2020 saw the release of his Americana-inspired album, With A Little Bit of Grace, including the popular track “Stuck Down In Paris With You.” Henson is known for smooth guitar phrasing, unambiguous songwriting, and hooks that remain in your head long after you’ve heard them.
