Rushden & Diamonds

Dec 15, 2018

Vancouver based Rushden & Diamonds (R&D’s) have successfully bridged the gap between old school party-rap and new school electro-funk. Inspired by the video games and action movie culture of the 80’s and 90’s, R&D’s music and visuals are known to clearly demonstrate the duo’s custom blend of conceptual Canadian music.

Consisting of the rock n roll lyricist Michael Rushden and the royal rhymesayer Lord Diamonds, the duo has toured in over 25+ countries, rocked festivals for hundreds of thousands of people and have shared stages with the likes of Kool Keith, KRS-ONE, Dilated Peoples, Flying Lotus, RiFF RAFF, New Order, Warren G plus many more!

To add to their impressive resume, R&D has created 2 original songs for Sega’s hit multi platform title Anarchy Reigns in USA / Europe (Max Anarchy in Japan). Fast Lane, produced by renowned video game composer Naoto Tanaka, quickly became the soundtracks break out single winning the duo RadioSEGA’s Fan Choice Song of the Year. R&D's remix to Fast Lane was later re released as Cizeta (Official Remix), showcasing R&D's development as combined songwriters, producers and MC's all of which can be experienced throughout their records and during their versatile live stage show.

Rushden & Diamonds are ready to record their most commercially viable album to date. The 10 track album will be fully produced in BC and recorded at Fader Mountain Sound Inc. with Ben Kaplan (Hedley/Mother Mother) and Omari Jabari (Roy Woods/OVO Sound). An album sure to infuse their signature mix of alternative hip-hop, indie pop and electro-funk we can expect another set of stellar singles ready to blast our earways and get our hips a’ swinging this upcoming festival season.
