Carmanah
Soulful vocals and four-part harmonies combine with instrumentation that’s as broad as the trees in the old growth rainforest of this quartet’s namesake. Based in Victoria and deeply inspired by the rugged beauty and dense forests of the Pacific Northwest, Carmanah create an eclectic brand of music that uses guitar, lap-slide, djembe, fiddle, and flute to unite audiences old and young, from coast to coast.
Carmanah have shared shows with Ziggy Marley, Said the Whale, Wake Owl, Clinton Fearon, Spirit of the West, and Current Swell, but most recently traded stage for studio to embark on their yet-to-be-named fourth album. Recorded over two two-week bouts this winter at Vancouver’s iconic Warehouse Studios with Gus Van Go (Sam Roberts, Wintersleep, Said the Whale), Carmanah’s latest outing blends roots with rock and a super groovy rhythm section to create a sound that’s unmistakably sincere and unquestionably energetic.
