Lady Sinncere
Amanda Nahanee, also known as Lady Sinncere, is an Indigenous hip-hop artist from Squamish Nation. Amanda received support from the Vancouver Music Fund's Demo Recording program to collaborate with local producer Hussein Alidina, aka DJ A-SLAM, to create a recording for the original song "Can't Kill Me".
The track features recording artist Christee Lee and traditional percussion played by Chief Ian Campbell. The song honours the past and current struggles of Indigenous people including our murdered and missing Indigenous women and girls.
In addition to the audio recording, the Lady Sinncere and DJ A-SLAM went on to produce music video to promote the single, on November 25th, 2020 in support of the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women.
