Elise Boulanger
Elise Boulanger is a bilingual Chamber-Folk-Pop multi-instrumentalist artist and environmental advocate that creates cinematic dreamscapes. She weaves ethereal vocals soaring a top cello, violin, piano, drums and ukulele. Her lyrics are poetic, evocative and questioning. Her style is built upon her classical training and influences from artists such as Regina Spektor, Patrick Watson, Franz Schubert and Radiohead.
The recording, mixing, mastering, and music video creation of original song "It Started in the Garden," was supported by Creative BC's Career Development program. Funding was also used for digital marketing, graphic design, website activity and release of the track. This project has led Boulanger to booking an autumn tour around Vancouver Island and Calgary.
Boulanger’s first music video, “It Started in the Garden,” is dark and bestows a growing awareness about the importance of biodiversity. “It’s a moody love story of when you do something you love with someone you love and then they turn around and do it with someone else,” explains Boulanger.
With an unwavering passion for taking care of the environment, Boulanger is collaborating with environmental organizations, such as Nanaimo Area Land Trust and UNESCO's Mount Arrowsmith Biosphere (Research) Reserve, to raise awareness about the indelible importance of biodiversity in the face of climate change.
