Current Swell
One thing as certain as the rise and fall of the ocean’s tides is that Current Swell’s folk rock stylings will make feet stomp, hands clap, and faces smile. The Victoria quartet of longtime friends craft a unique brand of singing and songwriting that has united ever-growing audiences through honest lyrics and skilled musicianship for over a decade. While performances circa 2006 were mainly set in backyards and beaches, their humble beginnings have led to sharing stages with The Beach Boys, Bedouin Soundclash, and Xavier Rudd, and to monumental events like the 2010 Winter Olympics and the Ottawa Blues Festival.
With the steam of five studio albums, a Peak Performance Project first place win, and a dedicated fan base that seems to grow exponentially with every milestone, Current Swell have parlayed their momentum into album number six. After some preliminary tracking in Tennessee, the band recorded for 12 days at Vancouver’s Warehouse Studios with Nashville producer Jacquire King (Kings of Leon, Norah Jones, Shania Twain). With top-notch talent and gear elevating every aspect of the process, the four feel confident that this next album is going to make quite the splash with local fans and international audiences alike.
