Surrey Art Gallery’s Latest UrbanScreen Exhibit Seeks Your Participation
The Surrey Art Gallery was one of 14 recipients of the Interactive Fund awarded by the BC Arts Council and Creative BC, to help them create innovative digital and interactive media projects and software applications.
Recontres imaginaires: Interactive artwork
The result is a new exhibit using software created by the French team Scenocosme. The software allows users to insert themselves into live video and to interact with “virtual friends” in real time. Artists Anaïs met den Ancxt and Grégory Lasserre are in Surrey to create videos for their exhibit “Rencontres imaginaires” (“Imaginary Encounters”). They need “virtual friends” for their videos.
Filming takes place September 12 – 15 at Bear Creek Park. To become a “virtual friend”, email the gallery at artgallery@surrey.ca to participate in one of the filming sessions.
Filming for the UrbanScreen exhibition Recontres imaginaires
Join the artists for the Digital and Interactive Art Preview Night on September 16th at 8:00 pm. The digital showcase opens on September 29th.
Located on the west wall of the Chuck Bailey Recreation Centre, UrbanScreen is the largest non-commercial outdoor screen in Canada presenting digital and interactive art by regional and international artists.
UrbanScreen exhibitions begin 30 minutes after sunset, and end at midnight.
