PSTC/FIBC Applicants: Production Company Business Number (BN)
The business number (BN) is a unique number assigned to a company by the Canada Revenue Agency (CRA). Business owners use this number to identify their company when in contact with any federal, provincial, or local government program.
The business number consists of two parts – the business number and the program account identifier. The entire number has 15 characters: 9 digits to identify the business and 6 letters for the program account. (For example, 123456789 BC0001).
When Creative BC requests your company’s BN on tax credit applications, we are looking for the 9-digit portion only. It is also known as the GST/HST number. If you cannot locate your BN or GST account number on your incorporation paperwork you can find it on GST/HST Registry Search, or by logging in to your CRA account online or contacting the CRA by phone at 1-800-959-5525.
Providing an incorrect or incomplete BN is the most common reason for certificate amendments. For this reason, it is important that you verify that this number matches the production company you are applying with before submitting your application.
